Our hikes, bike rides and walks range from simple city walks - exploring unusual staircases, architecture, or suprising pastoral settings right in the heart of urban centers - to short moonlight hikes and longer walks in the countryside.

Hikes are spread throughout the Bay Area: Every month, we try to assure that there is at least one activity in three of our four geographical areas:

  • San Francisco (hikes, bike rides, and cultural events)
  • East Bay (hikes from Contra Costa County through the foothills of Tilden and Redwood Regional parks down to Mount Diablo)
  • South Bay (From Mount San Bruno County Park and Huddart Park in the North Peninsula to Big Basin Redwoods State Park and Big Sur further south)
  • North Bay (memorable walks and bike rides through Tennessee Valley, astronomy nights at Mount Tamalpais during the summer, Sausalito, Tiburon, Point Reyes Nationa Seashore and the Russian River area)
But whatever the area, you will be sure to find members from the other three areas participating in the events.

Indoor events also: Our members also plan social, cultural, and religious celebrations--including movies of the month, trips to museums or plays and pot luck Sing-A-Longs.

Special events: We also offer a number of special activities throughout the year including summer and winter trips to Yosemite, downhill and cross-country ski trips, river rafting, sea kayaking, and Elephant Seal tours at Ano Nuevo State Reserve.
